The Storytelling/Story Acting Network

Our ST/SA Network is a group of Monmouth and Ocean County early childhood professionals who work with children from the ages of 2 through 8. These teachers provide a process called ST/SA or “Doing Stories” in their classrooms.

Some participate in our study group and others communicate through email or at workshops.

The commonality among the teachers/providers is their interest in how children grow and learn through telling their own stories, having them written down and then acted out by their friends.

Time and again, teachers exclaim their astonishment at how the young children participate with such joy and enthusiasm. Even the most reluctant children, those who avoid many other activities, eagerly join into the wonderful oral tradition that storytelling/story acting creates.

Whether these early childhood professionals meet or “talk” via email, the connection they share has helped them grow “a head taller than themselves.”
